Bedbug Preparation Sheet
Necessary Preparations Before A Bedbug Treatment

Bedbugs are not easy to eradicate. We need to work together as a team in order to eliminate this problem from your home. The more thorough your preparation, the more thorough the treatment can be; and, the quicker we will eliminate the problem. Please keep in mind that in most cases, a single application should eradicate the problem; but, there are situations that may require several before control is achieved.

Please follow these steps thoroughly in preparation of us coming to your home.

1. Vacuum thoroughly all flooring, baseboards, and furniture thoroughly to remove bed bug eggs that may be attached.

2. Throw away vacuum cleaner bag immediately in an outdoor receptacle.

3. Remove all bedding from all beds throughout house prior to treatment and have laundered at a professional laundromat. Be sure to wash in extremely hot water to kill bed bugs and their eggs.

4. Remove all clothing from shelves in closets, chests, and dressers. Follow instructions above for laundering.

5. Remove pictures from walls and place them on the floor. All shelves and bookcases should be cleared (this is important as bed bugs will lay eggs in books and knick knacks, as well as, in and behind picture frames).

6. Bed must be taken apart and stood up so mattress and box spring can be treated and inspected; which may require removal of dust cover under box spring. In cases of severe infestation, mattresses should be thrown away. There is no way to save them in the heaviest infestations. A bed bug-proof mattress cover should be installed on new mattresses and box springs purchased before bringing into home.

7. Any food must be put away in fridge. Tooth brushes, toothpaste, cosmetics, etc. must be stored and sealed in plastic bags (anything that you may put in your mouth, eat or drink).

8. Clear any objects away from baseboards of rooms. Furniture, etc. should be moved in toward center of room approx. 2-3 feet. Any carpeting must be lifted around edges of room. Clear any objects off of floor, allowing more thorough coverage.

9. Clear off and out any dresser surfaces, end tables, tabletops, cabinets, etc. Drawers should be opened or taken out, also to allow for more thorough coverage.

10. Smoke alarms/detectors and fire alarms must be disabled. This usually can be done by removing the battery.

11. Remove any pets, fish, birds, cats, dogs, etc. from house for 4-6 hours. Fish tank water filters and or air conditioning units must be turned off.

12. Be prepared to be out of the house yourselves for at least 4 – 6 hours.

As part of any good pest management program these steps are necessary to assure the greatest possible control. Failure to comply will cause a treatment to be unsuccessful and will result in repeated attempts to gain control and elimination. In the case that these steps have not been followed, we will treat to the best of our ability; however, any re-treatment needed will incur an additional fee and any and all warranties will be null and void.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this manner. Please sign and return to us prior to service being performed.
